Joe Kelley, Project Leader
Mission:
The Enterprise Systems Support Team, part of Application Information Systems at Virginia Tech, exists to provide information systems and office automation support for the purchasing and software distribution functions of Information Technology Acquisitions (ITA).
What We Do:
Enterprise Systems Support provides systems and applications to automate office processes for Information Technology Acquisitions staff. A summary for each office is provided below.
Support for the ITA Software Distribution office includes:
- Point-of-sale software applications to record financial transactions and licenses sold to Virginia Tech students.
- Software license tracking and internal university fund transfers for licenses distributed to Virginia Tech departments.
- Software applications to support student checkin and streamline distribution of thousands of licenses to students at the beginning of the school year.
- Network-based distribution of software applications to authorized students, faculty, and staff.
- Ad-hoc reporting of licensing and finances related to software distribution.
- Relational database table layout and maintenance for the above applications.
- Document image capture and integration in department software applications.
Support for the Computer Purchasing office includes:
- Banner purchase order printing and distribution to the state-wide Electronic Virginia (EVa) system for delivery to vendors.
- Competitive bid distribution to vendors via web downloads and automated faxing.
- Bid tracking and tabulation sheet support for vendor bid offerings.
- Electronic posting of bid award and other posting documents.
- Requisition tracking through a web-based (ReqStat) application which enables university departments to track purchases and view purchasing documents.
- Document image capture, indexing, and retrieval of purchasing-related documents for internal office and university-wide viewing.
- Distribution of state-wide purchasing contracts to other state agencies through a secure web site with authenticated access.
ESS staff meet regularly with ITA representatives to evaluate future systems needs and on-going maintenance of existing systems.
